I treat the breeders for canker when they are sitting eggs ,can then be happy with youngsters being healthy ,feed a good breeding mix until the youngsters are starting to eat in the boxes with the parents at that stage they get as many quality maples as they want, never used black minerals for as many years as i can remember as i found the old birds just went crazy for its salt content and drank far to much water, but at this game everyone to there own .

My birds have black minerals and pink "vitamineral" in front of them all the time, during breeding and racing. They only ever seem to take what they need/want. I have never seen them gorging on it.
Yeboah, do you give any other supplements that may contain these minerals in a different form?

Only others they would get in there water would be Johnsons iron tonic or a quarter tab of multivit from boots per 2 ltr drinker ,but only very rarely when breeding ,and only the iron tonic very very rarely when racing,to be honest the racers only got plain water last season apart from a canker treatment and still won with the best of them ,if your winning with your system diamond sure you will stick to it regardless of others ,me likewise, good luck for 2012 :emoticon-0167-beer:
