Flight Length

what do members think about flight length in relation to tail length i have a few birds where the flights come nearly level with the tail most are busschaerts,is there any benifit in this,have been looking at pictures of champions and come in all shapes in fact some look to short,also i was wondering what difference it makes to performance,i e long or short distance,any thoughts guys and gals.

Ive got a couple where the flights look as if they are to long and cross over each other in relation to length with tail all mine seem to be about 2 3rds of tail length

what distance are your best results at,with the 2/3 length and the long length birds, cheers

as a general rule of thumb ,tend to be sprint , longer cast pigeon -longer distance (theres always exceptions though) :emoticon-0136-giggle:

mine are untested at the moment sorry I should have said this will be my 1st year so will know better then

Are we looking at primary or secondary flights ?.

When we say "Long Cast" or "Short Cast" I always thought that was due to the build of the pigeon i.e. the length of its back. I haven't related this to the length of its flights - perhaps they go hand in hand - Someone on here will put us right.........

for a good balanced pigeon the tips of the end flights should be just touching the bar across the tail.

Thought same as yourself, talking about same pigeon being long cast (mine) long cast to me was length between tip of beak to end of the tail, but friend was actually talking about length of birds primaries, especially No10.

Depends on what sport :emoticon-0138-thinking: Average height of a professional basketball player is 6'7" :P Of course there are exceptions :P
